Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy:
Exploring Healing Through Faith, Meaning & Connection

Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy is an approach that honours the importance of spirituality, faith, personal belief systems, and existential meaning in the healing process. This therapy is not about promoting any one religion—it’s about making space for your unique spiritual worldview to be acknowledged, explored, and integrated into your emotional and mental well-being.

At Wellness Counselling Centre, we offer spiritually integrated therapy upon request, supporting clients in navigating spiritual questions, religious trauma, and the connection between mental health and meaning-making.

How Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy Can Help

This approach supports individuals who are:

  • Exploring questions of identity, purpose, or faith

  • Healing from religious or spiritual trauma (including high-control environments, spiritual abuse, or excommunication)

  • Navigating a faith transition or deconstruction process

  • Seeking to align personal values with life choices

  • Experiencing grief, loss, or existential crisis

  • Wanting to integrate spirituality into therapy in a meaningful and respectful way

Whether you follow a structured faith tradition or a more personal spiritual path, your beliefs can be a source of strength, healing, and exploration in therapy.

Who Can Benefit from Spiritually Integrated Therapy?

This approach may resonate with:

  • Clients whose spiritual or faith identity is an important part of life

  • People questioning or shifting their belief systems

  • Individuals recovering from religious trauma or exclusion

  • Those experiencing spiritual guilt, shame, or confusion

  • Clients facing loss, end-of-life reflection, or deep existential concerns

We honour each client’s spiritual story with openness, non-judgment, and curiosity—whether rooted in Christianity, Indigenous practices, New Age spirituality, secular humanism, or anywhere in between.

What to Expect in Spiritually Integrated Therapy

Therapy is always client-led and may include:

  • Reflection on faith, doubt, or belief systems

  • Naming and unpacking spiritual wounds or confusion

  • Exploring values, practices, or rituals that support your healing

  • Integrating spiritual identity with personal growth or life decisions

  • Working with grief, forgiveness, or moral injury through a spiritual lens

  • Creating space for meaning-making and connection in times of uncertainty

Therapists will never impose beliefs or promote a specific worldview—your autonomy and dignity are at the centre of the process.

At Wellness Counselling Centre, spiritually integrated therapy is offered when requested and may be supported by:

  • Existential Therapy – Supporting meaning-making and reflection on life’s big questions

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy – Using presence and compassion to explore spiritual connection

We work with sensitivity and respect, meeting you wherever you are on your spiritual or faith journey.
