Therapy for Anger Management in Niagara Region and Virtually
Province Wide: Understanding and Regulating Anger

Anger is a natural emotion, but when it becomes overwhelming, difficult to control, or impacts relationships and well-being, it may be time to seek support. Unresolved anger can stem from stress, past experiences, or difficulties with emotional regulation and may lead to frustration, outbursts, or withdrawal.

At Wellness Counselling Centre, we provide compassionate, evidence-based therapy to help individuals understand their anger, develop healthier coping strategies, and improve emotional regulation.

Understanding Anger

Anger can present in different ways, often influenced by past experiences, cultural mindsets on anger, unmet needs, or difficulty expressing emotions in a healthy way. Some common types of anger include:

  • Passive Anger – Suppressing anger, avoiding conflict, or using sarcasm and passive-aggressive behaviours

  • Explosive Anger – Intense outbursts, yelling, aggression, or difficulty calming down once triggered

  • Chronic Irritability – Feeling consistently frustrated, resentful, or on edge, even in minor situations

  • Internalized Anger – Turning anger inward, leading to self-criticism, guilt, or emotional shutdown
